A conversation with Tech Enthusiast and Revolear Co-Founder Adam Rutland about his exciting journey to Revolear.
Adam, your career started as a financial analyst, how did you end up in the enterprise software industry?
That’s right, I started as a financial analyst but developed a hobby in game development on the side. Eventually, that become my passion and led me to transition to game development full-time, honing my skills for about five years as a mobile game developer.
Programming has always been a fun experience for me, especially the thrill of problem-solving. I pivoted towards enterprise software about ten years ago, where I could explore my creative side while building complex systems and software solutions.
I consider myself a self-taught engineer, as I learned the ropes through building projects on my own. As a self-starter, I strongly believe that there is no substitute for hands-on experience and I have been fortunate to have had incredible mentors throughout my career.
I’ve always been interested in solving problems and finding creative solutions which led me to help build some products I am very proud of.
Can you talk about some of these innovative products you created?
I was one of the architects behind Omnistudio, a powerful business process management tool created at Vlocity. Oministudio became the flagship product of Vlocity’s platform for every industry and was adopted by every customer, including those using Configure-Price-Quote (CPQ) software.
Reading and writing data in Salesforce with declarative tools has always been a challenge. I tried to solve that problem with the patented creation of DataRaptor, a product within Omnistudio, which uses a low-code builder to read and write data from Salesforce.
Salesforce acquired Vlocity in 2020 and Omnistudio is now part of Salesforce Industries.
After this amazing journey what made you start Revolear, and what is it all about?
Revolear came to life because I had such a great experience working with my co-founder Raja Singh, who impressed me with his exceptional product design and creativity. It was a no-brainer to team up with him.
What enticed me the most about the idea of Revolear was the opportunity to address a specific problem in a novel and unique way. Revolear is not just another CRM alternative but new enterprise sales technology aiming to create a new space that enhances the salesperson experience on top of existing CRMs, particularly Salesforce. The goal is to streamline the selling process, capture valuable data points, and make people's jobs easier and more effective.
“By moving a set of conversations and experiences that live outside many existing CRM channels, I believe we can significantly enhance the seller and buyer experience and capture many things that help streamline the selling process at any size company. We can take the guesswork out of the sales process and surface new and interesting data points that would be impossible to capture in emails, word docs, or pdfs and therefore make people's jobs easier."
